Results
IELTS provides results for all levels of English: there is no such thing as a pass or fail. You will be given a score from zero to nine for each part of the tests: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Find out more about how to understand your IELTS scores and the nine-band system here.
Viewing your Results Online
Please log in to your IELTS account and click on your test date, you will then be able to view your results there. If you took IELTS on computer, test results will be available 3-5 days after your test. If you took IELTS on paper, test results will be available 13 days after your test.
These provisional results are for your support and viewing only. All receiving organisations will require a copy of your Test Report Form.
You will not be able to obtain your results over the phone, by email or by scan.
Test Report Form - Certificate
A personal copy of your certificate will be sent by post on the same day that your results have become available online. We will send your certificate to the address you provide during online registration. The postal delivery time depends on the destination country.
If you wish to pick up your certificate at the test centre in person, you may collect it after your results have become available online. If you wish to do this, please request this before, on your test date or by email as soon as possible .
Important notice: This certificate cannot be replaced. Certificates are sent by regular post. Please contact the IELTS department for payment instructions if you would like us to send your certificate by registered post with a tracking code. The costs for registered post are between €12 and €20, depending on the destination country.
Sending Certificates to Institutions
We can arrange for additional original copies (up to a maximum of ten) to be posted to receiving institutions (e.g. universities, immigration officers, etc.). If you would like us to do this, please include the relevant addresses when you register or email us the postal address of the institution before your test takes place in order for us to have the certified copies sent on the day that your results are released. You can request these additional copies for free.
Institutions need original copies of your Test Report Form. Photocopies of your Test Report Form will not be accepted. Institutions might not accept a Test Report Form that is more than two years old. After this time period, you will need to provide the institution with evidence that you have maintained or improved your English skills since taking the test.
Unhappy with your results?
If you are not satisfied with your results, you can apply for an Enquiry on Results (review of your IELTS results) by applying for it online accessing the Test Taker Portal or at the centre where you booked your test.
If you apply for an Enquiry on Results, your test will be re-marked by a senior IELTS examiner who will not know your original band scores for each part of the test. If there are any changes to your original band scores, the test centre will issue a new Test Report Form (TRF).
You can request a re-mark within 6 weeks of the IELTS test date on your Test Report Form. You can request a re-mark for the whole IELTS test or for one or more parts (Reading, Writing, Listening or Speaking). Your reviewed results will be available within 2 to 21 days of applying for a remark.
There is a cost of €130,- for requesting a re-mark. If your band scores change, the fee you paid will be refunded.
You can take the test as many times as you wish.
