Results

IELTS provides results on a scale from zero to nine for each test component - Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. There is no pass or fail; it's about your proficiency level. Learn more about the nine-band system here.

Viewing your Results Online

Log in to your IELTS account and click on your test date to view your results online. If you took the computer-based test, results will be available 3-5 days after the test; for paper-based tests, it's 13 days.

You will not be able to obtain your results over the phone, by email or by scan.

Test Report Form

Fot the paper-based test, a paper copy of your certificate will be sent to the address you provided during online registration, on the same day your results are available online. You can also collect it at the test centre after the results are online; just request it by email.

For a computer-based test, your certificate will be sent to you in an electronic version - no paper version is available.

Important notice: Certificates cannot be replaced. Regular post delivery is standard, but you can request registered post with a tracking code for an additional fee (€12 to €20, depending on the destination country). Please contact the IELTS department for this option.

Sending Certificates to Institutions

Upon request, we can post up to ten original copies of your paper-based test certificate to institutions, such as universities or immigration officers. Include the relevant addresses during registration or email the IELTS department before or after your test date. No extra charges apply.

Institutions need original certificates ( Test Report Forms ); photocopies will not be accepted. Keep in mind that some institutions may not accept certificates older than two years. Provide evidence of maintaining or improving your English skills if the certificate is older.

Unhappy with your results?

If you are unsatisfied with your results, you can either apply for an Enquiry on Results (EOR) online through the Test Taker Portal or, for a computer delivered test, register through the Test Taker Portal for a re-take of one component of the test: One Skill Retake ( OSR ).

A EOR request must be made within 6 weeks of the test through the Test Taker Portal. The costs is Euro 130,-

A re-take of one component of the computer test ( OSR ) must be requested through the Test Taker Portal within 60 days of the test date. The re-take test is only available in the Amsterdam Centre. The cost is Euro 165,-

For an EOR, a senior IELTS examiner will re-mark your test without knowing the original scores. If there are changes, a new Test Report Form will be issued. Your result can become available on the same day as your application and up to 21 days after your application. The time it takes depends on several factors, including the number of sections you’ve asked us to re-mark. If you have not received a response after 21 days, please contact your test centre.

You can take the IELTS test as many times as you wish to achieve your desired results.
