Linguaskill – The accurate English test with fast results – General and Business English
Linguaskill, developed by Cambridge Assessment English, is an online adaptive test that assesses English language skills in General English or Business English. The test evaluates your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through modules, utilising artificial intelligence to allow for a more precise assessment of your English proficiency.
The test comprises multiple-choice questions, short writing tasks, and recorded spoken responses. Results are delivered certainly within 5- 7 days, and are aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), providing detailed score reports for each language skill.
Linguaskill is an online modular test that evaluates all four language skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking, allowing you to choose the specific skills you want to assess. It comes in two options: Linguaskill General and Linguaskill Business, catering to different language needs based on your objectives.
Types of Linguaskill
Linguaskill General
Linguaskill General focuses on everyday language use, making it suitable for university admissions, job roles outside of the business domain, and situations where strong English skills are required but not specialised business terminology. It covers topics such as studying, work, future plans, travel, and technology, appealing to a wide range of organisations.
Linguaskill Business
On the other hand, Linguaskill Business assesses English used in a business and corporate context, making it ideal for recruitment in organisations where employees need familiarity with business language. It covers topics such as buying and selling, office environments, business travel, and human resources.
Please note that remote exam taking is currently not possible. Therefore, you will need to come to our test centre to take the exam.
You may choose to take the full exam or individual components separately. The fees are as follows:
- Listening – €27.50
- Reading – €27.50
- Writing – €55
- Speaking – €55

How to apply
To take the Linguaskill exam, follow these steps:
Step 1: Choose desired test
Determine the test type and format you prefer. You can choose between Linguaskill General or Linguaskill Business.
Step 2: Contact test centre
Get in touch with the Linguaskill administrator by emailing bltc@bltc.nl. Inform them of your desired test and they will provide you with available dates. You will also receive an application form to confirm your test type, format, and preferred exam date.
Step 3: Payment
Once the form is completed and the exam date is confirmed, you may proceed with the payment.
- Bank transfer: Transfer the fee to British Language Training Centre, ABN AMRO, using the provided BIC and IBAN. Include “Linguaskill for [your name] & telephone number” as the payment reference.
- PIN or cash at BLTC: Visit BLTC during office hours to pay in person after registering online.
Please note that credit cards and ‘acceptgiro’ are not accepted, and any bank charges the responsibility of the applicant. Invoices cannot be issued, but a receipt can be provided. It’s important to complete the payment at least five days before your exam date.
Step 4: Confirmation of Entry
The Linguaskill administrator will send you an email containing all relevant information regarding your test.
