General Dutch Courses

These Dutch courses are given three times a year and run for 10 to 14 weeks depending on the period of the year. There are five levels from beginner to advanced:

Foundation courses

These courses aim to provide a thorough basic knowledge of the language. These levels introduce the language and all four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. There is also a fast build - up of essential vocabulary. It is a relatively intensive programme which will enable students to communicate in everyday situations within a short period of time.

Levels 1 + 2

Intermediate courses

These courses are not merely an extension of the foundation course but are also of interest to those who have lived in the Netherlands for some time and find that their language is not developing beyond the level of simple everyday conversation.

Levels 3 + 4

Advanced course

This course develops and perfects communicative competence and accuracy of the Dutch language. It concentrates on upgrading speaking and writing skills whilst at the same time fine tuning grammatical structures and nuances of the Dutch language

Level 5

Dutch Fluency

This course aims to increase spoken communication skills. Participants practise the conventions of spoken speech whilst developing their vocabulary and idiom. Particular attention is given towards activating students’ spoken conversation and providing feedback. Ideas and topics are current and student interest is catered to.

Levels 4 + 5

NT 2 Examination Programme II

This course prepares participants for the examination "Nederlands als Tweede Taal" of the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. All four skills, reading, writing, speaking and listening, are practised extensively with the exam format in mind. This course also aims to develop grammatical structures and widen vocabulary & functional expressions.
