Results

IELTS provides results for all levels of English: there is no such thing as a pass or fail. You will be given a score from zero to nine for each part of the tests: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Find out more about how to understand your IELTS scores and the nine-band system here.

Viewing your Results Online

Please log in to your IELTS account and click on your test date, you will then be able to view your results there. If you took IELTS on computer, test results will be available 3-5 days after your exam. If you took IELTS on paper, test results will be available 13 days after your exam.

These provisional results are for your support and viewing only. All receiving organisations will require a copy of your Test Report Form.

You will not be able to obtain your results over the phone, by email or by fax.

Test Report Form - Certificate

A personal copy of your certificate will be sent by post on the same day that your results have become available online. We will send your certificate to the address you provide during online registration. The postal delivery time depends on the destination country.

If you wish to pick up your certificate at the test centre in person, you may collect it after results have become available online. If you wish to do this, please request this before or on your test date.

Important notice: This certificate cannot be replaced. Certificates are sent by regular post. Please contact the IELTS department for payment instructions if you would like us to send your certificate by registered post with a tracking code. The costs for registered post are between €12 and €20, depending on your country.

Sending Certificates to Institutions

We can arrange for additional original copies (up to a maximum of five) to be posted to receiving institutions (e.g. universities, immigration officers, etc.). If you would like us to do this, please include the relevant addresses when you register or email us the postal address of the university before your exam takes place to have the certified copies sent on the day that your results are released. You can request these additional copies for free up until 6 weeks after the test. After that, you will be charged €5 per certificate.  This may take up to two weeks.

Institutions need original copies of your Test Report Form. Photocopies of your Test Report Form will not be accepted. Institutions might not accept a Test Report Form that is more than two years old. After this time period, you will need to provide them with evidence that you have maintained or improved your English skills since taking the test.

Unhappy with your results?

Candidates can apply for a re-mark (Enquiry on Results) at the centre where they took the test. This must be done within 6 weeks of the test date and costs £110 from April 2019.

You can take the test as many times as you wish.
